A Historic Partnership

We were delighted to work on a web development project with Wyse Byse, a historic, well established and highly revered retailer known for offering a broad range of products.

The brand has been a staple of the local retail industry with a diverse stock including homeware, household essentials, toys, and gifts catering to value conscious customers. Now it was time to shift strategy with a new website which is where our partnership began.

Rising to the Challenges

With growing digital demands and consumer expectations, Wyse Byse needed a modern, user-friendly online presence that effectively communicated their value proposition, especially on furniture to a younger demographic, while reflecting their legendary brand identity. The existing Wyse Byse website lacked the modern design and functionality needed to keep up with customer expectations. Its layout was not visually appealing or intuitive, limiting its ability to engage users effectively. The site offered limited ease of navigation, which created friction for visitors trying to explore products or find information. It was not optimised to convey their offering clearly with accurate stock info or customer satisfaction. The old website also did not effectively communicate Wyse Byse’s vibrant, community-focused brand or showcase their diverse product offerings. The website also lacked SEO infrastructure, making it difficult for potential customers to discover Wyse Byse online.

The Plan

The Platform Marketing Agency web team aimed to create a website that would modernise Wyse Byse’s online presence with a clean, visually engaging design. This would deliver a seamless, intuitive shopping experience across all devices while reflecting the brand’s unique identity and value-driven philosophy. Essentially establishing a platform that could grow with the business and support the option for a future e-commerce integration. We implemented a structured and collaborative approach to develop the new site. The project began with a deep dive into Wyse Byse’s brand values, target audience, and business goals. This included regular client meetings and detailed competitor research to gather insights and align on objectives. Our team analysed local competitors and leading retailers to identify trends, opportunities, and best practices for an effective retail website.

Collaborative Content Creators

The new design adopted a clean, modern aesthetic that aligns with Wyse Byse’s approachable and value-focused identity. It included bold visuals, improved, clear typography, and a colour palette that enhanced the website’s on brand visual appeal. We developed an easy-to-navigate structure, categorising products intuitively so that visitors could quickly find what they were looking for. The website was designed to be fully responsive, ensuring a seamless user experience across desktops, tablets, and mobile devices. We worked with Wyse Byse to refine the content, emphasising their value proposition and highlighting popular product categories.

The content reflected the brand’s community-oriented ethos, encouraging engagement and trust. The site was built to accommodate comprehensive stock management and provided stock values for each of the three stores along with the ability to call the store from the product page. Wyse Byse Can also easily update products and promotions. The website was optimised for speed on a VPS, ensuring fast load speed 99.9% uptime to reduce bounce rates and improve user satisfaction respectively.

Best Practices

The team is also implementing best practices for on-page SEO, including keyword-rich metadata, clean URLs, and an optimised site structure to improve search engine rankings. Before launch, the site was rigorously tested to ensure flawless performance across devices and browsers. Feedback from Wyse Byse HQ and their IT partners was incorporated to refine the site further and our team executed a smooth launch, with minimal downtime and maximum visibility for the new site. The new site delivers a seamless browsing experience on all devices, catering to an increasingly mobile audience in that younger demographic. Intuitive menus and categorised product listings make it easy for users to find items quickly, improving overall user satisfaction. A more engaging layout highlights products, drawing attention to promotions and best-sellers plus the option is now there to build out e-commerce functionality, allowing Wyse Byse to expand their online offerings as their business grows.
